Meet Our Team in North Kingstown

Gioia Bergmann, Co-owner and Practice Manager

Gioia founded The Village Veterinary Center with her husband, Dr. David Bergmann, in June 2014. She has worked in veterinary medicine since 2003 and has always enjoyed meeting and working with patients and their families. As a senior veterinary surgical technician and an experienced veterinary business manager, Gioia is a great source of information on all aspects of pet health and well-being, including creating a safe and relaxing home environment, providing pets with the exercise and entertainment they need, pet nutrition, and insight on correcting behavioral issues. She loves spending time with her family, traveling, and being on the water. Gioia, David Bergmann, and their three sons share their home with five pets: Curtis, a mixed-breed dog; Maizey, a French Bulldog; and three cats: Calvin, Mittens, and Nubbins.

Addison Herrington, Veterinary Technician

Addison has always had a strong love of animals, and grew up with dogs and a range of other pets to keep happy and healthy. Starting as an unpaid intern at North Kingstown Animal Hospital, Addison worked hard and completed 3 years of veterinary technician training. She believes that the most rewarding part of the job is building relationships with pets and their owners, through educating them about how to care for their pets both physically and mentally.

At home, Addison has a Pitbull named Dexter, two cats named Bundy and Arcadia, and a rabbit named Patch Adams. When not at work, she runs agility with Dexter and loves to hike, travel, and hang out with family and friends.

Shayla Maglio, Receptionist

Shayla is currently a senior at the University of Rhode Island. She is passionate about helping animals, and she loves that she gets to make a career out of what makes her happy at our practice. Making a difference in the lives of our furry patients each day truly makes Shayla happy, and she enjoys learning from her team members and our doctors. Shayla has a ragdoll cat named Cody, and in her free time she loves watching Disney movies. It’s fitting to note that The Lion King is her favorite Disney movie.

Jamie Tebeau, Veterinary Technician

Jamie decided she wanted to pursue a career in veterinary medicine as a child while she was showing horses through 4-H. She shadowed Dr. Bergmann during high school, and has been involved with the practice ever since. She’s currently studying Pre-Vet at Tufts University, and will graduate in 2020. Jamie loves learning, getting to know our clients, and helping our patients recover from illness or injury every day. Jamie has two pets: a Bichon Frise named Napoleon, and a cat named Chocolate. When she’s not working, Jamie enjoys long distance running, baking, walking her dog, and cheering on the Bruins and Patriots.
